Learn how to create a Google Ads account in a few minutes.
This guide isn’t intended to set up any campaigns or keywords. It is just a starting point to create a blank account – Either so that you can access the keyword planner, or you are planning to run some Google Ads campaigns soon.
We’ll keep this quick.
- Head to https://ads.google.com/
- Click “start now” – Usually in the top right:
On the next screen, you need to have an email address linked to a gmail address. The easiest way to check this is to type your email address in to the box.
If you have a gmail address linked, you’ll be able to sign in.
If not, you need to select the button “Create account” and follow the steps – This gives you a google email account, and then you can create a google ads account in the next steps.
Once you have logged in or signed up, enter your business name, and then be sure to switch to “expert mode” – For the majority of advertisers this is the best option to choose.
Next, select “Create an account without a campaign” – You can still create your campaigns afterwards, it just gives you a little thinking time by selecting this option – Rather than being forced through the steps by google and launching a campaign.
Next, enter your local currency details
And that’s it – At this point, you don’t need to add any card/payment details. This is enough to create a blank account to either begin creating campaigns, or to access the keyword planner.
You can access the keyword by clicking Tools & Settings in the top right, and then Keyword Planner on the menu which opens:
